Animal Care SpecialistThe Animal Care Specialist provides daily care, health monitoring, and enrichment for animals housed at the shelter. This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and compassionate environment while supporting animal health, welfare, and placement efforts. Team members work closely with veterinary, behavior, and shelter staff to ensure animals receive proper care and excellent customer service is provided to visitors and adopters. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMust be at least 18 years oldOne or more years of animal care or shelter experience preferredCompassion for animals and the people who care for themStrong customer service and communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentComfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds, and temperamentsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periodsBasic animal health and behavior knowledge preferredAbility to remain calm and professional in challenging situationsWillingness to work weekends, holidays, and varying shiftsMust pass a background check and have reliable transportationAbility to handle emotionally challenging situations, including injured or euthanasia-case animals
